Operations Engineer - Windows Server Specialist

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Operations Engineer specializing in Windows Server, will play a crucial role in managing, optimizing, and securing our Windows Server environments. This position involves close collaboration across functional teams, contributing to the deployment and support of infrastructure solutions. Will work under the guidance of our Engineering and Senior Engineering teams, contributing to projects that enhance our operational capabilities while also providing mentorship and training to our Support Desk staff.

  • Scheduled on-call (24/7 coverage during the week on-call)

RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Administer, configure, and troubleshoot Windows Server systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and availability.
  • Design and deploy Windows-based applications and services, collaborating with IT teams to ensure solutions meet organizational needs.
  • Monitor system health, perform regular audits, and prepare reports to proactively address potential issues.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity strategies for Windows environments.
  • Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, and essential Windows infrastructure components.
  • Utilize scripting and automation to streamline operations and enhance system reliability.
  • Provide on-call support as needed, including non-traditional hours to accommodate non-US holidays.
  • Actively participate in cross-functional teams, offering expertise, training, and support to enhance team skills and knowledge.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, recommending technological advancements to drive continuous improvement.

Required:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Windows Server administration, with a solid understanding of Windows Server (2012/2016/2019) environments.
  • Proficiency in virtualization technologies, particularly VMware, and a strong grasp of networking principles.
  • Demonstrated experience with Windows security best practices and tools.
  • Skilled in automation and scripting, preferably PowerShell.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of training staff and effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to take direction from Engineering and Senior Engineering teams, adapting to shifting priorities and project requirements.

Preferred:

  • Certifications in Microsoft (e.g., MCSE, MCSA) or related fields a plus.
  • Experience with cloud services, especially AWS.
  • Knowledge of Citrix VDI and Fortinet Firewalls is a plus.
